Most boats depart from the port of Vlora, offering various options to reach this island paradise. We highly recommend opting for an organized tour, as it not only facilitates transportation but often includes stops at nearby points of interest and the neighboring Karaburun Peninsula.

From Vlora, we can find numerous companies that organize daily tours to Sazan Island and Haxhi Ali Cave, one of the area's most famous attractions. These tours usually last half a day or a full day, and prices vary depending on the duration, included services (such as lunch on board or snorkeling equipment), and the type of vessel. Speedboats will get us there faster, while larger boats offer more comfort and space.

The boat trip from Vlora to Sazan usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on sea conditions and the speed of the vessel. During the journey, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the Albanian coast and the Ionian Sea. It is essential to book in advance, especially during the peak summer season (July and August), to secure a spot and get the best rates. Do not forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, as the sun's reflection on the water can be intense. It is essential that we go prepared for self-sufficiency, as we will not find the usual tourist infrastructure of other more developed beaches. This is part of its charm, allowing us to enjoy a more authentic and less commercial experience.

What We Can Expect (and What Not)

In the coves of Sazan, there are no public showers, permanent toilets, or fixed chiringuitos. There is also no parking, as access is exclusively by sea. However, this does not mean we are completely helpless. Organized tours usually offer some amenities on board the boat, such as toilets and, sometimes, a small bar with drinks and snacks. Furthermore, some tour operators may provide umbrellas and sunbeds that are temporarily installed on the most visited beaches, offering us a respite from the sun. It is also common for tour companies to offer equipment rental for snorkeling, which is highly recommended for exploring the island's underwater wonders. Our recommendation is to always bring our own water, food, and sunscreen, and to leave no waste on the island to preserve its natural beauty.
